Evian Championship: In Gee Chun sets majors record with four-shot win

South Korea's In Gee Chun won the final major of the women's golf season in record-breaking style Sunday after a nerveless closing 69 at the Evian Championship in France.
The 22-year-old led from start to finish and her 21-under-par total of 263 broke the previous record low score by two shots.
It is also one better than the men's majors best of 20 under set by Jason Day at Whistling Straits and then matched by Henrik Stenson  at Royal Troon. Chun's four-shot victory from fellow South Koreans Ryu So Yeon (66) and Park Sung Hyun (69) gave the popular LPGA Tour rookie her second major after winning last year's US Women's Open.I just can't believe I have just won the Evian Championship on 21 under. I'm not dreaming am I?" she said.
Chun only joined the LPGA Tour full time this year and is now certain to win this season's Rookie of the Year award.
Another award winner Sunday was world No. 1 Lydia Ko, despite finishing well adrift on two over par after a 73.
She collected the Rolex Annika Major Award for the best overall performance in the five majors, the trophy named after the legendary Annika Sorenstam of Sweden.

Third defeat in a row for Jose Mourinho's Manchester United

ose Mourinho's Manchester United slipped to a third damaging defeat in just nine days as Watford secured a 3-1 home win over the Red Devils Sunday.
It was the first time in over a decade that such a fate has befallen a Mourinho-managed team.
After a promising start to the season, including victory at Wembley in the FA Community Shield, United's woes began,
United's record signing Paul Pogba rattled the woodwork with a first-half effort, but in-form midfielder Etienne Capoue struck his fourth goal in six games to put the host ahead.
United improved after the break and when teenager Marcus Rashford was quick to react to put the visitor level just after the hour mark it looked ominous for Watford.
But Hornets boss Walter Mazzarri introduced Juan Camilo Zuniga off the bench, and the Colombian scored with his first touch of the ball on 83 minutes from Roberto Pereya's pass.

International Paralympic Committee president Philip Craven introduced a minute's silence to commemorate the cyclist's life.

Michael Schumacher: Walking claims untrue, says lawyer

Michael Schumacher's lawyer says the former Formula One world champion "cannot stand even with the aid of his special therapists."
Felix Damm told CNN he spoke in a German court about Schumacher's health as part of the family's lawsuit against Die Bunte magazine.Schumacher suffered severe head injuries in Meribel in the French Alps. He had two brain operations and was placed in a medically-induced coma in hospital in Grenoble, France. He was transferred to hospital in Lausanne and
The Schumacher family is suing Die Bunte, arguing the right to privacy. The verdict is due in October.
Damm told CNN: "I told the court on Friday that the alleged claim that Michael Schumacher can walk again is false and simply not true.
"Michael cannot even stand with the help of his special therapists. I cannot make any other comments about Michael's health situation."
Die Bunte said in writing to CNN: "We are not commenting on this."
Schumacher won a record seven Formula One world titles for Benetton and then Ferrari between 1994 and 2004.
He retired for the first time at the end of the 2006 season, but returned to F1 with Mercedes in 2010. Schumacher was unable to add to his record 91 race wins in three seasons with the German team, which has dominated the sport in recent years with back-to-back world titles in 2014-15.

Singapore GP: Nico Rosberg wins to take charge in F1 title race

Nico Rosberg held off a charging Daniel Ricciardo for a thrilling victory in Sunday's Singapore Grand Prix to reclaim the lead in the Formula One title race.
With Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton finishing third, Rosberg has built an eight-point lead as he bids for his first world championship crown.
Red Bull's Ricciardo, gambling on a late pit stop for super soft tires, made massive inroads into Rosberg's lead in the closing laps, but ran out of road in the 61-lap night race, finishing just four-tenths of a second behind.
Hamilton, who started third on the grid behind the leading two, was never a factor and only a clever piece of late race strategy by his pit crew saw him overtake Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen for the final podium spot.
Sebastian Vettel, who won the race for the fourth time last year, battled from the back of the grid to claim fifth behind his Ferrari teammate, with teenager Max Verstappen sixth for Red Bull.
It was German Rosberg's 22nd career victory in his 200th F1 race and certainly one of his hardest fought, with both Mercedes also battling brake problems on the Marina Bay street circuit, which takes a heavy toll on man and machinery.
"The whole car was on the edge, it always is in Singapore. It's all the more satisfying with a race like that," Rosberg said at the podium presentations.
He had made a good start from pole, but the race was almost immediately halted behind a safety car after an early collision between Force India's Nico Hulkenberg and Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz.
When the safety car pulled off, a trackside marshal had a close shave -- needing to run off with the cars going full pelt.
